Cake Care Instructions!

Our cakes are lovingly handmade and are therefore delicate by nature.

Handling & Transportation!

  1. When transporting your cake/cupcakes, it is important to keep it flat and secure (ie: floor board or trunk of your car). Avoid putting your cake/cupcakes on a slanted car seat or any area with a slant as this could cause your cake/cupcakes to slide and become damaged.

  2. I highly recommend not leaving your cake/cupcakes in your car for longer than the duration it takes you to get home. Heat affects the frosting and can cause your cake/cupcakes to breakdown.

  3. If your cake is placed in a box, do not squeeze the sides of the box as this will damage the cake. When carrying your cake (with a box or not), always place both hands underneath the cake board.

Storage!

  1. If you are not slicing into your cake the day you receive your cake, I recommend storing your cake in the fridge overnight to keep cool and fresh, as there are perishable ingredients used in your cake.

    2. Do not leave your cake in direct heat or sunlight as this will cause your buttercream to melt! This also includes cupcakes!

    3. If you have leftover cake; wrap the cake in cling wrap and place it in the fridge to keep fresh. You may also freeze the leftover cake by wrapping it in cling wrap and freezer paper.

Cut the Cake!

  1. Please note that in all tiered cakes, there will be dowels inside to support each tier. Be sure to remove them before serving.

  2. Cakes are best sliced with a large plain edged kitchen knife.

Refer to my cake cutting guide below!

  3. Buttercream and Ganache can stick to your knife and possibly make the cake crumble when slicing. To ensure smooth slices, simply dip your knife in hot water, wipe the blade of the knife carefully with a cloth and cut. Repeat this step each time you cut a new slice.

Serve & Enjoy!

  1. All cakes taste their best at room temperature. I recommend taking the cake out of the fridge at least 3 hours before serving as this allows the buttercream to soften.

  2. As soon as the buttercream has a soft texture, you know it’s ready to eat! If you do not allow the cake to return to room temperature, the cake and buttercream will be hard and the flavours may be dulled.

  3. If your home/place of celebration is air conditioned, you can leave your cake out on the table all day for show. Just remember, heat will melt your cake! If you’re hot in your home, the cake will be hot too!
